( votes)The Original Electronic Pest Repeller
Pest Offense products are one of the more well-known electronic pest repellers in the market. And it’s not surprising because their electronic products are among the best in the industry. But of course, like every manufacturer, there are a few things here and there that need to be improved.
The Pest Offense Electronic Pest Repeller claims to get rid of mice, roaches, and other pests including spiders (which I fear the most). Well, according to over a hundred positive reviews, several comments, and our own experience, it does its job effectively and safely. How? This device alters the electromagnetic field in your home’s wirings by sending random impulses. This drives pests crazy and renders them unable to live in your home. So basically, it drives pests away by attacking their nervous system. If you wish to find out more about this nifty gadget, click here to view more pricings, ratings, and reviews.
Just one unit of this product is good for one level of an average-sized home. You might need to purchase a few more units if your house is bigger than the average.

A Few Ups and Downs
The Pest Offense Electronic Pest Repeller gets mixed reviews in Amazon. Personally, I think it’s because of poor installation techniques and because each house is wired differently. It IS a plug-and-play device but you need to know where to plug this product for maximum effectiveness. As one satisfied customer suggests, you have to determine how many circuits your house has and install one unit for each circuit. Read here for the full tip.
Like all ultrasonic pest repellers, this gadget is a safe and humane way to get rid of pests – it doesn’t contain any hazardous chemicals so you don’t need to worry about your children or pets getting into accidents because of chemical-based repellers or traps. And speaking of safety, I’m sure you’ll like this one – this model is EPA registered! It means that this model is registered to the Environmental Protection Agency or EPA and has passed a rigorous screening process, ensuring that this electronic pest repeller is safe to use in your home.
This is not for you if…
This product is not recommended if you have small pets in your home such as hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, and tarantulas as these animals can detect the electromagnetic impulses that the repeller releases and will drive them crazy. If you have rodents as pets it is recommended to choose another pest repeller. I recommend using Victor M2524 Electronic Mouse Trap if you have a mice infestation or TERRO PreFilled Liquid Ant Killer II Baits 6 Pack T300 if you have an ant problems. The last one is a chemical based repeller though, so be careful.
Is it Effective?
When it comes to the products effectiveness, we’ve got nothing to say but wow – this bad boy works superbly under the right circumstances. What I’m talking about is that your home should have sufficient wirings so Pest Offense can maximize its potential. It doesn’t work overnight too. It takes about a week or two before you see the effects of this nifty device. Hey, you didn’t get an infestation overnight!
What’s more, according to some reviews the repeller doesn’t affect roaches as much as it affects other pests. It worked on them when we’ve tested this bad boy but I’ve read in various comments and reviews that the product doesn’t have much effect on roaches. I’m not too sure if they just plugged it in on the wrong circuit or their unit is broken. If you have a roach infestation, don’t try your luck with this product. I recommend using another one like Riddex Sonic Plus Pest Repellers which are very effective against cockroaches.
Begone Mice and Spiders!
The Pest Offense Electronic Pest Repeller is most effective against spiders and mice. So if you have any of the infestations mentioned, this product is a great buy. According to reviews however, the unit has minimal effect on ants and roaches so if you have these pests lurking in your homes you may want to look at our ultrasonic pest repeller chart.

what do the red and green lights mean on this device.. it flashes red sometimes and green sometimes..
Hi there! The flashing red and green lights mean that the device is still working. It’s an indicator light that tells you the unit is still operational. Hope this help!
Hi Yesh, here is an explanation for the lights on units I found, I thought it was great info as I see reviewers everywhere wondering what this means, I thought perhaps u could add this to your article.
The Red light shows you when the Electro-Vibrawave® Technology sends vibrations through your wiring.
The Green light blinks when the Ultrasonic sound is emitted. The red and green lights will blink intermittently. The Ultrasonic and Electro-Vibrawave technologies are used at random pulses to constantly startle the pests and prevent them from getting used to these sounds.
The Yellow light represents the Ionic feature. The yellow light will be on all the time because the AT is constantly emitting negative ions.

Hey Meg, thanks for added info, I appreciate it a lot!
Hello there Derenda,
the red light is your power light showing you have power to the unit. The Green light comes on for 2 min then off for 2 min that is the unit going threw the recycling mode there are 8000 different cycles so the pest do not get used to the pulses!
hope this helped you.
thanks,
PEST OFFENSE
Mine has a red light flashes green has not. It also has an annoying sound that sounds like vibrations that go with the flash off and on. Does any one know if this is normal?
Hi! The flashing light is normal although the vibration is a bit weird. I know that there should be a bit of a clicking sound, but if annoys you then you should probably opt for something else OR place it somewhere where you cannot hear it. Cheers!
Hello Kati,
The Green light comes on for two min and off for 2 min no flashing for that light what ever this other person is telling you is a lie she has no clue!!!
Thanks,
PEST OFFENSE
EPA Registered? What is the registration number please?
Thanks for the comment Joe. Can you clarify what you’re looking for?
Thanks.
Hello! Because it manipulates the electrical wiring, is there any danger of an electrical fire? Also my garage seems to be the favorite place the mice are in my home (that I can see anyway!) Shall I put an additional one in the garage as well as the house? I have a ranch home under 2,000 sq ft. + garage. I have an electrical outlet in the ceiling in garage. Is that a good spot for the garage? This article suggests it is ample for an average size home. What is your definition of average size home? It also suggests to determine how many circuits and place one for each circuit. How do you determine that and where are the best spots to place? I appreciate your help!
Hi Jan! Here are the answers to your questions:
1. There’s no danger of electrical fire because the device only manipulates the electromagnetic waves the wirings generate.
2. It’s recommended to put in repellent in the garage and another one inside your house.
3. The electrical outlet in your garage’s ceiling is a good spot to place the repellent.
4. The average size home is approximately 500 sq ft.
5. You should probably ask an electrician to determine how many circuits in your house has. Could be a good idea to have them checked too since some wiring could be gnawed by your rodent pests.
6. The best spots to place the repellent would be near electrical wiring since the device works by altering the electromagnetic waves the wirings are generating.
Take note though, that the effectiveness of the device depends on your home structure as well as its electrical structure. That being said, the device is not for everybody. I would suggest to try one repellent first and if you see any positive effects, then just proceed to buy more.
Hope this helps!
I have had one unit for about 6 years. Works great but bigger house means we needed more. I got 4 additional units but the red light is solid red in the units rather than flashing red as my original unit. Will it still work?
Thanks for the question Natasha. Which specific unit did you purchase?
That aside, I think you’re in good shape. The pulses are meant to be intermittently and I imagine the manufacturer simply modified how the power light is reflecting this activity.
Most of all, I appreciate your positive report regarding your original purchase. If you don’t mind sharing more about the product you bought and the specific pest you were repelling, I’m sure readers/shoppers like you would love to factor your experience into their buying decision.
Thanks!
We live in an A-frame cabin, surrounded by sub-tropical forest, on the big island of Hawaii. Since we began using six PestOffense units, we no longer see roaches, ants, mice, or any other uninvited guests. There is rarely a roach lying on its back that appears incapacitated. I am concerned that our unstable electric sources (solar with generator back-up) may have damaged some of the PestOffense units. One has two green lights that are always lit (no red light). Another has one red and one green light, both remain lit. Two have both colored lights, but only their night lights are lit. Another has a green and a red light, but only the green light is lit and it stays on. Please advise. Mahalo! (thank you)
Hey Brian, sounds like I might have to coordinate with the good folks at Pest Offense to do an onsite inspection, with you being in Hawaii and all!
Thanks for writting and I appreciate the positive response you’ve experience with the Pest Offense units. Can you elaborate on the units and model numbers you have? Sounds like several units are working for you and I wonder if you bought them all at the same time. Lights and their related functions certain vary by manufacturer and can vary across models for the same manufacturer.
Let me ask, are you still getting good results? Meaning, with the changing the lights have you observed an increase in the pests you’ve seen?
Thanks for writing and let me know what you find on the model numbers too. Meanwhile, I’ll see what I can find out.
Thanks.
Dave
I purchased the Pest Offense device today and it has been plugged in for 3 hours. We stepped outside and saw a snake coming from under our house through the vent. So, I believe this device affects snakes, also. I’m liking this product so far!
Fantastic! Thanks for sharing. It’s that kind of feedback that we enjoy and it also helps fellow shoppers with similar pest control issues.
Thanks!
Dave
I have two new units that only show green lights. Shouldn’t there be a red light?
Hey Jayne, check the product packaging. The light colors and functions can vary by products and manufacturers. As with many electronic devices, it may run an initial start up cycle as well.
Thanks
Why is it making a beeping sound out of no where.
Hey Toshia. Many products beep for different reasons so your user manual will help determine the cause for your particular product. However, the most common sounds are due to low batteries or it may be set to emit an audible tone in concern with the higher frequency so the user can determine if they have set the unit to constant or intermittent sounds.
Hope that helps.
Thanks
Dave
Is it okay if I plug it in upside down?
Hey Jessica, that should be fine.
Does anyone know how much electricity this device uses? Thanks in advance!
Hey Janet… I don’t have exact specs, but the draw should be minimal.
I have purchased pest offence specially for repelling mosquito. Will it be effective for mosquito and no such reference about the mosquito repeling has been made in your catalogue THOUGH THE SAME HAS BEEN CLAIMED IN YOUR advertisement in Tata Sky.
This would be higly disappointing if it is not meant for mosquito repel which is my prime necessity..
Hey, you’ve left us all hanging. Did it work for you or not?
One thought I have is the product you bought as compared to the one you saw in the advertising. I imagine there’s a chance that it’s not the same product.
I bought my pest offense at Wal-Mart, I still have roaches and they sit on top of the unit it doesn’t work
Thanks for that feedback Rebecca. I’d take that one right back to Walmart but I wouldn’t rule out the Pest Offense product. Try ordering one from the manufacturer, I believe they sell through Amazon at the link on the review.
Does this work for bats? Is the one for rodents different than the one for mosquitoes?
Cheers
Tom
Hey Tom, I think we’re talking about the same Product. The Pest Offense is a pretty dynamic unit and is effective against a wide range of pests.
Does it emits Ultrasonic Sound waves ? Is it harmful for pets like fish in fishtanks
I think your fish will be ok with this product.
Does it Emits Ultrasonic sound waves ? and also wiring in my house is fitted inside a plastic casing. Wiring is not inside the walls. so will it work ?
Not sure I understand your wiring situation. If your wiring isn’t run through the walls…. then some of the product features may not work as advertised. I think there’s an expectation that electrical wiring is run within the walls. However, some features are going to be just fine… the sound frequencies will still operate as normal.
Hope that helps… I think there are parts of your situation I’m not tracking with.
Hi just want to tell you that I bought my Pest Offense unit 15 years ago and it is still working.
I purchased another one today because I see an increase in roaches so I figured it is going bad and need some help. It is a wonderful product and I hope this new one last as long as the other. When I purchase the original unit at the time you all stated if it ever quit working you would replace it. I notice the new one is only covered for 90 days.
Thanks for sharing, that’s interesting. I’ve had only limited personal contact with the folks over at Pest Offense but they’ve been extremely friendly and helpful to me. I understand that it’s a family owned business and they try to treat their customers right.
Great story on the initial product lasting 15 years. That’s surely an award winning product testimony. As for the newer products only covered for 90 days… I don’t now all that would have gone into that decision but it’s surely interesting.
I thought these things were fake. The studies show mixed effectiveness. However I bought one and tried it. Natur Isosomething 5 in 1 . My main problem was mosquito bites. Anyway last night we had a power failure (I live in Beirut) and I got bitten for the first time since i installed the thing. I am now 100% convinced that the technology does work. And may have to get a small ups for it.
Great story, thanks for sharing.
I bought 2 of these rodent repellents and have 2 green lights on flashing constantly and the other going on and off at random not sure if this is the way it is supposed to work. I assumed the one light was supposed to stay on to let you know the electrical current was continually on. I am hoping this is the way it is supposed to work and not that the rodents have gnawed through some of the wires in the wall. The model I bought is called the Original Pest Defense I purchased this at Walmart. Thanks for your help with this device.
Thanks Donna. You’re best bet is to check the user guides that came with the product. We don’t directly represent the manufacturer, but I do know the Pest Offense is a good and effective product.
Sorry you had to go to Walmart but glad you found us. Hope you’ll consider shopping through us next time.
