On the one hand, common house hold pests are known to carry allergens and disease, however, you want to be careful not to introduce a new threat while trying to eradicate an existing one.
So let’s officially set the record straight: are ultrasonic pest repellers safe for pregnant moms? Well, you need not be worried – ultrasonic pest repellers are considered safe for pregnant moms!
How Do Ultrasonic Pest Repellers Work?
To really understand how they are absolutely safe, let’s start by knowing how do these devices work.
First off, ultrasonic pest repellers work by emitting ultrasonic sound which is well beyond the range of human hearing. A quick Google search will tell you that the frequency of ultrasonic sound is above 20,000 Hertz. Audible sound is generally considered to be within the range of 20 to 20,000 Hertz, although the range varies from each individual. Younger people tend to hear higher frequencies that older people, mainly due to loss of hearing acuity as people get older. But even though your baby is very young, that doesn’t mean he or she can hear ultrasonic sound – there’s still a limit to a human’s hearing capacity.
On the other hand, pests such as ants, termites, and mice, have developed highly acute sense of hearing which means they can hear frequencies beyond 20,000 Hertz and it annoys the heck out of them! So off they go, out of your house and you’re home is left pest free – and ready to welcome your newest addition.
Some of you may even be wondering if ultrasonic sound may have any effect on your menstrual cycle, causing irregular periods. There are no scientific studies that proves ultrasonic sound causes irregularities in a woman’s monthly cycle.
